About

About me.

I came to therapy as a client myself after many years of anguish. The therapy allowed me to work through and change so much, lightening my life and giving me the freedom and energy to move on. From that personal experience I gained a deep passion for the value and place for therapy, and that greatly motivates me in supporting you.

You may find it helpful to know the kind of therapy work I have been chosen to be involved with. I have worked with a very wide variety of clients covering a wide variety of issues. A particularly significant aspect that I have focused on, has been supporting those who are LGBTQ+.  This has been very much part of my work as a counsellor for the Terrence Higgins Trust, where I have been since 2005 to present working with HIV and sexual health clients.  It was a central aspect in working as a group facilitator for MindOut, an LGBTQ+ mental health service between 2007 to 2016, where I was running groups particularly for those experiencing suicidal thoughts. Prior to that, I worked for Switchboard LGBTQ+ counselling service. I have also worked for Mankind, counselling men who have been abused, and I worked at St Peter and James hospice from 2001 to 2004. counselling those were dying, or their relatives.

I have been in my own private practice since 2003 to the present.

Previously, I set up and managed two Day centres supporting the elderly, and people with early onset dementia.

As a central part of my work, I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and GDPR, hold full professional liability insurance and am recently DBS certified.
